Spring Beauty Edit

 By Jaclyn Gruenbaum

Despite the snow in NYC last week, it is finally Spring! By the time April rolls around, I’m totally ready to overall my beauty routine to accommodate the warmer temps and try out new Spring makeup trends. Here is how I shift my beauty routine for my favorite season of the year:

Skin

I consider skincare to be the basis of my entire beauty regimen, so this is usually my first order of business when adjusting my seasonal edit. Gone is my thick moisturizer in favor of a lighter, oil-free gel formula to keep my skin fresh and healthy. I also put away my sheet masks and switch to masks that purify and exfoliate, to shed my winter dryness and reveal smooth glowing skin. Lastly, although I try to be diligent about SPF all year round, I am definitely more conscious of using a face sunscreen as the snow begins to melt and the sun stays out longer, the one I recently been reaching for is Glossier’s Invisible Shield!

Makeup

There’s something about Spring that makes me want to look bare-faced (yet flawless!) and perfectly radiant all the time. To achieve this, I switch from a matte foundation to something with lighter coverage and use liquid blush and bronzer for a more dewy effect. This spring I’m really looking forward to experimenting with color on my eyes with blue or purple eyeliners and sheer lip colors in poppy pinks and oranges.

Seasons past I’ve been so excited to break out the pastel nail polishes for Spring, but this year the nude nail trend has me hooked. I’ve already put my sheer, barely-there nail polishes out on my vanity for a clean yet chic Spring manicure that I plan on rocking for the next few months.

Hair

As a naturally curly (read: frizzy) girl, Spring brings upon a ton of hair challenges for me. My simple fix: hair oil. Mizani Thermasmooth Shine Extend Anti Humidity Spritz is quite the mouthful, but a little drop goes a long way and this product has been my go-to for the last couple of years. This season I am also excited to try Ouai’s Hair Oil to switch things up. I concentrate the oil on the ends of my hair and brush any excess through the body of my hair with my fingers, avoiding the roots. Frizz-free hair in a flash!
