Determining your “skin type”

By determining what your personal skin type is, you will be able to now make decisions about skin care products and recognize your skin conditions. There are five different skin types; normal, dry (extra dry), oily, combination, and sensitive skin.

Normal skin- feels comfortable all the time, smooth texture (no bumps), cheeks are dry but not feeling tight, oil content is balanced.

Dry (extra dry)- feels super tight after cleansing, looks dry and/or flaky, has an uneven texture, shows fine lines easily

Oily skin- looks shiny throguh the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin), very large pores, many breakouts, also has fine lines

Combonation skin- Oily only in the T-zone, dry or dehydrated cheeks, larger pores on the T-zone area rather than the cheeks.

Sensitive skin- Can be dry or oily, easily irritated by products, itchiness and blotchiness, prone to redness.

To determine what skin type you have, you should ask yourself the following questions:

  • How does your skin feel after you wash it? if it is tight then that is an indication of dry skin
  • Could your lifestyle be impacting your skin? are you stressed? taking any medications? too much time in the sun?

I hope this post helps you decide if your skin type! If you have any questions please contact me by email!
